MESSAGE FROM THE JURY
Dear participant to the “Feel the Planet Earth’08” Cifial Design Award:

This edition off the Cifial Design Award is coming to its end.
We have manage to gather around this project an international jury coming from seven countries out of four continents, and, the most important, your entries, making possible to have people from twenty three countries, working for a common social responsible objective.
Some of you had been selected at phase one and asked to present a more developed project to the final assessment. All those works have been presented at the Award Exhibit at Porto and are now available at this same website.
The Award Ceremony at the historical building of Alfandega, was been highlighted by Alexander Manu’s lecture “The Earth as your mirror” and gather more than 350 attendants, a lot of them designers and design students. Professor Manu kindly offered the register of its conference to be disclosure here (see top menu). The film, as well as the slides then projected will allow every one that had not been able to be at Porto, to reflect on the issues presented, taking further away the commitment of the organization to use the web as a medium to gather people all around the Planet.
We hope that the next edition of the Cifial Design Award – Feel Planet Earth’10 will be even larger successes, and we are looking forward to count on you to join us in the new challenge: Design your own sustainable business.

LUMEN TEAM INTERVIEW
The jury of the CIFIAL Feel the Planet Earth 08 Design Award selected two ex-aequo first price winners: The Artica and the Moonlight. Directly after the ceremony award, Team Lumen, the design team behind the winning Moonlight was interviewed. The short interview provides a quick insight in the participatory design process of the design team in rural Cambodia which resulted into a new, to the socio-economic context adjusted, renewable light solution.
